Jorge Zamora, Lieutenant.Lieutenant Jorge Zamora was born and raised in Watsonville and graduated from local schools. His parents, originally from Michoacàn, Mexico, were local field workers when he was growing up. Jorge is attending Union Institute & University and will receive his Bachelor's in Criminal Justice Management in early 2012.

Jorge's law enforcement career began in 1991 when he became a Watsonville Police Department cadet. He later joined the Community Service Officer program and shortly thereafter attended the police academy. At the age of 21, Jorge was sworn in as a police officer for WPD.

Jorge's law enforcement experience includes patrol, gang and narcotic enforcement, detectives, field training officer, hostage negotiations, walking beat, and Regional Occupational Program instructor. He is also a court recognized gang expert.

Lt. Zamora promoted to sergeant in 2009 where he supervised a team of patrol officers and later administered the Field Training Officer Program. In October 2011, he promoted to lieutenant and as the Operations Division's Community Services Commander, he oversees the traffic bureau, gang unit, School Resource Officer program, parking enforcement, Neighborhood Watch program, guest speaker requests, the Post Incident Team and the Ride-A-Long program.
